My life experiences and acquired cultural knowledge lend complexity and depth to my artwork; this is expressed through the layering and textural quality. A cross-like composition similar to that of African masks is a recurrent element on canvas and paper. Another common element is the use of circles, which represent fertility in traditional African art. 
Distanced from Africa, I feel I can paint honest reflections of African life; yet feel it necessary for one to live in Africa to be able to capture the true essence and emotion of the country and its inhabitants.
